Happy Friday, Miraclers
Things I'm grateful for today: absolutely purrrrfect weather going on in SF, not getting flattened in the Dolores Park crosswalk this morning (thanks to Miracler Laura Compton's bloody-murder scream), and lastly: Abby Bridge, creator of past mixes Book Snakes and Bone Folders and Better Than a Tranquilizer, new baby Rex (Congrats Abby!) and this truly awe-some Season 1 gem. I've always thought of it is a sister mix to two other Classic Bonus Mixes we've posted this year: Ben Tinker's Toppermost of the Poppermost and Nick Dedina's Coup de Stereo No. 1. See what you think.
This Classic Mix was sponsored by YOU and your recent comments. Pat yourselves on the backs, commenters! And enjoy this lovely day. And Happy FR5 to you all!

Perfect. (Drops mike, walks off stage.)
I loved this treasure trove back in season one! It is so great to hear it again!
Full of delicate older numbers, like "Le 6 Septembre", "Come Again", "As the Day Grows Longer Now", and "Colours" and "Morning Glory'. Sprinkled with newer wispy songs like "When the Open Road is Closing In" and "Quien", this is the collection of a master mix maker!
Thanks for putting the mix up!
This mix is indeed a classic that I listened to many times pre-Matrix & it somehow didn't make the transition to Apple Toonz - maybe the Ramones Rap blew up my CD player or something. Thanks for sharing, Abby. And for re-sharing, Kelly.
Really, really, really, really, REALLY great mix, Abby. Chock full of favorites, and tasty stuff hitherto unheard. The stretch from Love to Desmond Decker is especially satisfying. Nicely balanced! The send-off from Dee Dee is a hoot.
Another reason this mix is so satisfying? 24 songs. The Long Form, y'all! Plenty of room to fly this way and that way, without feeling cramped, or ADHD'd.
Beautifully arching, surprising serendipity – from Eno to "King Kong Kitchie" goofiosity – that's damn hard to achieve in only 45 minutes.
Let's get back to the 90-minute mix tape.
Well hello, old friend! Flattered to be included in the company of Ben Tinker's and Nick Dedina's offerings - my very favorites of Season 1 (along with Chris von Sneidern's). Nice to know this one has held up over time for a few of you and has found a couple new fans. I'd completely forgotten about the title and cover art. After burning all those cds on an external drive with my slow crappy desktop computer and cutting the covers with a janky papercutter, I was too lazy to make a cover for myself so I just remembered this as 3MPM #14. I think the diorama kit I lifted it from is lurking in my basement somewhere, still unconstructed. A rainy day project for young Rex? What a wide open field we had in that 1st year! I think I abused the 3-minute and pop format requirements with this one and maybe exceeded the maximum length too - thanks for indulging my free format compulsions KN (I too was weaned on 90-min mix tapes)!
