Elvis Perkins is the son of actor Anthony Perkins, who died of AIDS on September 12, 1992. Almost exactly nine years later, Elvis' mother Berry Berenson was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11, which flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. It was just prior to this that Perkins had begun to record some songs he'd written, only to have his life turned upside down. In honor of the tragedy of September 11 and the many tragedies spun from that day, 3MPMP brings you the soul-crushing title track of Elvis Perkins' debut album, "Ash Wednesday," which deals with the aftermath of losing his mother on 9/11. Grab a Kleenex and have a listen.
