Welcome to Kevin Seidel's Bonus Mix.
Having found himself a winner of the "Win a Quiet Miracler's Slot" sweepstakes, this mix master is back while still floating on the glow of his Exile in Mainstream triumph in September, about which was said, "I have come to know that Mr. Seidel never misses! This one jumps quickly to regular rotation," "You were steered well in Tower Records, whenever that was!", "This is a great topic and great mix," "Whoa—thanks, man!", "Great theme, wonderful execution. What could have been a mundane greatest-hits collection was made so personal," "Kevin, you had me at ELO. Although I've never heard the song before," "This collection is so much fun," "Pure pop for me," "Dig this mix—thanks," "Nice rockin' mix," "Great mix, great theme, great artwork! Loved the title pun also," and "ELO Waterfall. I just found my replacement song for Sister Christian (which will make many people happy because Night Ranger was getting a little taxing for some of them). Thanks!" Today Mr. Seidel brings us even more to love.

Liner Notes from KS
A Short Story - Bonus Mix (just go with it)
1. You're not so sure about this party. A little too straight for your tastes.
2. Until you've knocked back a few. Things are picking up.
3. Isn't that the creepy French guy that once hit on your sister?
4. You can't be sure as he's disappeared behind the passing conga line.
5. Ducking on to the patio for a smoke, you recognize a guy from the East Bay holding court in Italian. Nice mustache, hipster.
6. Whoa. What was in that cigarette?
7. You're suddenly feeling a little light-headed...
8. ...as you transfix on a pair of eyes staring at you from across the room. Wait, is that a kimono?
9. Why yes. You would love to dance.
10. Heaven.
11. Floating now, you find yourself speaking gibberish into a stranger's ear.
12. Just before your feet become entangled...
13. ...sending you both headlong into an antique set of fireplace tools.
14. You will both laugh about this when you're old and gray.
15. But this night is still young.
16. You promise the host you'll pay for any damages as you slip into the night with your future distant memory.

Mix is up. Let's get

Loving the liner notes Mr. Seidel!
I don't even want to know the song titles / artists before I hear this mix.
Too fun!!!

Totally fun, Kevin. And what made it even more special was the seamless transition to the next song in my iTunes library—Nan Vernon singing "Moon River."

Solo Mike Patton, Prefuse 73, Jim Campilongo, all new to me. Thenk yew...

There is another short story in which a man sits alone for two days in a Brazilian hotel room on the outskirts of the city and listens to this collection of select songs over and over again until he finally can accept what the world has done to him and what he has done to the world. Then he showers, shaves, picks up his case, and takes a taxi downtown.

Tito Puente and Mike Patton back-to-back. Fantastic.

Even before downloading the music I have to say the story outlined is intriguing and the cover art is beautiful. Now on to introducing this creation to the eardrums: Ten, nine, eight, seven, six....

Fun fun fun! You can feel the story unfolding through the mix. And some fast-faves here for me: almost all of them got thrown into the 'greatest hits' playlist over here.

Thanks for another thoroughly enjoyable mix, Mr. Seidel!

You had me with the liner notes....they totally made me excited to dive in, you clever thang.

Call me sappy but I was mostly digging the mellower/groovier side of this mix (Buddy Holly, Serge, Tito, Los Amigos and the mysterious 青江三奈!). You did make me want to dig up my old Prefuse 73 disks though!

Especially liked all the foreign tracks. Nice one!

Deep deep down oh yeah! I live in the East Bay now, leaving this on all night so that I can wake up with a mustache and a kimono. Highly cinematic satisfactions, thanks!

I think I have been in this movie, especially since John Fahey shows up. And I love the Books tune, the sweet off-kilter. All in all a beautiful economy of megabytes, nice crunch!

I love this package! The notes, the vivid characters (the japanese whore stole my heart),the suspenseful flow,
and of course the way it got me dancing, which isn't that hard since I dance , like, everyday,
but still that Tito Puente number is kiiilllling me. Ay carumba!

Quite the cosmopolitan mix! The Fahey was a nice twist.

A great mix and absolutely perfect liner notes. I listened to the entire mix on my way to see Puscifer on Monday night. It made for a wonderfully bizarre start to a wonderfully bizarre evening, and I thank you.

Recent text from ST to another prodge-er: "Seidel's mix is totally doing it for me."

I really loved Exile for its theme and selection-perfection, and this shows another side of Seidel. It really works and hangs together. Thanks.

There really isn't one song on this that I don't dig, but here's the thing - it really works as a mix for me. There are some songs that I favor over the others - dEUs, Steinski, Serge, Campilongo, and Fahey to name a few, but I don't want to listen to them out of order or with out the rest of the package.
Thanks for the short story!

Flows and floats smoothly through strange and distant lands, and I thank you for it. A mix like this is why i dig this 'prodge' so. dEUs, 青江三奈, and that foot-tappin' Fahey diddy are just a few of my favorites.

Wow! I love this! The story AND the songs. Love it! Love it!

Wow. I was worried that this "great idea" I had after a few too many scotches wouldn't hold up in the cold light of day. Apparently, I need to over indulge more often.

The perfect party. Every guest a unique gem somehow puzzle-fitting with the rest. I really, really, REALLY dig "Future Umbrella", Kevin. Gotta get me some Shugo Togumaru. (By the by, turns out his name is spelled "Tokumaru" with a K.) And then another Japanese treasure: Mina Aoe's husky Suntory Whisky pipes on 3MPMP? *Bikurishita!* Are you an *Enka* fan? I lived for a spell in Japan, back in the go-go days, and that voice takes me back to a certain microscopic bar at four in the morning. Los Amigos Invisibles are super-bueno. Saw them in Austin a while back. Live disco (oxymoron?) music that manages to be sublime, silly, and heartfelt. Next mix I'm hereby callin' dibbies on their "El Disco Anal." The Books' number is beautiful. Is Oranger still playing? They're a Paul Rauschelbach fave that I know nuttin' about 'cept that they nabbed the best band name ever. Thanks for 23 seconds worth. Jim Campilongo! The test of an amazing guitar player is warming up a spot for John Fahey and having the chops to make it work. I'd read a while back that Mike Patton lived in Bologna. Had to look up the song -- it ROCKS. Ennio Morricone, *naturalmento.*

P.S. No, that's the creepy French guy who once hit on his own sister. After putting the moves on his daughter.

#10 is my personal favorite since I have this crazy undying affection for the theremin. I may have been traumatized by a TV show in the 70's or something. Another great mix Mr. Seidel!

Kevin Seidel could upload a Del Taco receipt and I'd listen to it. The man can do no wrong. Love The Books and the Assassination of S.G.

Totally genius mix, Kevin. Eclectic like the best of 'em, and you just gotta love the subyacent narrative.
I keep playing this again and again, and every time there's something else that makes me smile, like Steinski's intro, or Mike Patton's camp moment, or those liner notes! Thank you!
