Allie's Listening Party

Date:
December 8, 2008

Miracler:
Allie Fung

Location:
Rockridge, CA

About this week’s Miracler
Allie Fung is a little fireball of kineticism, a whirling bundle of energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. Except when she’s not. And then, she’s a double-Tivoing, magazine-hoarding sloth. You may know her as the tiny dancer who falls asleep at parties, but her man and fellow Miracler Jeff Morris addresses her as Doctor Alberta Fung, because she always makes everything okay.

About this week's Mix
Allie has brought us an extra-kicky mix today. And it’s truly a listening party, with stuff here from Cut Copy, The Raveonettes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, and on and on. Put it on and bop til you drop. Kinda like Allie.

Thanks, Allie. Your mix is in heavy rotation here at the Patterson household. I'm still trying to warm up to "Through The Tress" (hook, please), and I think Animal Collective writes concepts instead of songs, but Jesus, I love love love everything else. Is that Hot Chip song off of an EP? I remember it a bit differently from "The Warning."

Wowee! Tons of fun, Ms. Fung. Most of your tracks have made it into my Best Of Pop Miracle playlist. And I'm picky. Very picky.

Outrageously delectable—and you have two of my all time favorites—that Animal Collective (have you heard Water Curses?) and BSS, which breaks my heart every time, it's so darn delicious. But much I do not know here but will now go and buy. Thanks and thanks.

Nice, consistent mix. I particularly like the Wolf Parade, Animal Collective, & Beirut. How bout that Beirut? World music inspired electronic pop with flamboyant vocals -- from New Mexicoan! Gotta love that.
