We Have Both Kinds of Music Here

Date:
January 12, 2008

Miracler:
Eric Reedy

Location:
San Francisco

Mix is here.

Yeeeeee-haaa!
Taking advantage of our open season on all music genres in this round’s 3MPMP, Eric Reedy has done busted down the Pop door to bring us a collector’s edition of old-school Twang Miracles. And this stuff’s the real deal, folks, with guys named Lefty and Spade and Smiley and Lucky croonin’ about seas of heartbreak, getting wined-up, and above all: dames that are gone, gone, gone.

Being a bass player (the stand-up kind) in Western-influenced SF bands like The B-Stars and The Mighty Lynch-Pins and the late/great Jiffy Mellows, Eric is uniquely qualified to lead us into these furrin waters. Wade on in, ya’ll—it’s real nice here.

About Eric, by Eric
"I wanted to bring that much-maligned musical form called country music out of the closet a bit. I picked some of my faves here—whether for their performances, their esoteric nature or just plain good song writing. Hopefully they’ll bring out your inner redneck."

I agree w/ Mr B. Among my top few favorite mixes of the entire multi-year project. As an ex-rhythm guitarist I particularly enjoyed the swinging rhythms. Well done Eric Reedy!

Great mix all the way through. I have the Slim Whitman version of Cattle Call, but my husband has always said that he preferred the Eddy Arnold, and now we have it.

I also like your mixing the old with the new Derailers, BR5-49, and Wayne Hancock. It sounds seemless somehow.

thanks for this mix I will listen to it alot!

btw, have you ever heard Lonesome Bob or Cornell Hurd? Both guys you would dig

I've been secretly hoping throughout the Prodge that someone would gift us with an old-school-country mix like this. Anyone who considers himself a true pop music lover will appreciate the hooky melodic catchiness here.

Thanks, Eric, for this delightful twangy surprise.

I agree with Kelly - anyone who appreciates songcraft has to love this mix. Really fine stuff, top to bottom. And Ferlin Husky is the greatest name EVER. Thanks, Eric.

Am I crazy, or does "You Can't Break My Heart" lift its melody from "San Antonio Rose"? And why hasn't a miracler done a (non-country) pedal steel mix yet?

I just wanted to second a mix of non-country pedal steel (Dean Martinez??). It's actually my next band idea. Oh, and the mix is great.
