OKAY THEN.
You guys want more of this good good (mostly) pop stuff, you got it. And this time around, the comment box is gonna get some PLAY. You'll soon find that commenting is just like riding a bike: you put your fingers on the keys and before you know it, you're halfway down the block.
So bookmark our page. And come back often. For good stuff. Like Fritz's.
That's Fritz Eifrig of the Meet Christian Singles and YD&FoC and Feeling Single, Seeing Double Eifrigs and A.D.I.D.A.S. and Pop Rocks Eifrigs (and probably more than that, but since my I.T. guy lost all my files in January, my Prodge history is kind of shot.) I might need to enlist Prodge Historian Van Biesel in the future for chronology details.
But as for today's Miracler, Fritz Eifrig is such a Miracler, he was Miraclizing even between Miracle seasons. I think he's had this mix by the front door for a year, to will Season 7 in to being. And that's why he is Nummah One. A little warning on this one: Fritz's is theme is Songs That Will Turn Your Semicircular Canals Purple.
On another note, does iTunes continue to suck harder with every version or what? These songs came in at all kinds of random volumes, and knowing today's Miracler like I do (the entire lower flow of his home is a temple to the audio gods), that's not how they left his house. I tried to adjust manually in iTunes, but if someone's got a trick I can employ in the future, please share.
And without further ado (adieu?), I give you: The Liner Notes.
Tympanic Ticklers
This mix had its genesis in a few serendipitous random iTunes programming choices that amused my mildly stoned self a while back. Supplemented with some other tracks that scratch my itch for the louder side of power pop, occasionally overwrought crooning, and 'fast' girls with guitars, it's a mix that makes me smile with the simples of rock and roll pleasures. Herewith a couple comments:
1. Good old Stiff stuff. Love the 'Hell's bells, buckets of blood' line.
2. Overproduced and a little cheesy but I like.
3. Atlanta revivalists get a little more frenetic than the Who's version of this Otis Blackwell rocker.
6. Pretty good blending of psych-surf and Cambodian pop. Also the greatest height differential of any band I've ever seen.
8. Another appearance from the Shivvers on a mix of mine but deserved.
11. What's up with the Norwegian garage rock? They're really good at it.
13. I hear he's in love.
15. Best Who songs ever. (Today.)
16. Giving the Shangri-Las a little snarl. I don't care if her accent is over the top.
17. is a mystery that the Miracler is letting stay a mystery.
Hope you enjoy!

Fritz, what a welcome back, from you and the Prodge. Just blasted thru your mix and an alternative title might be CRANK IT.
Great intro from Wreckless Eric. Loved "Daddy Rolling Stone", the odd Stones oldies "Miss Amanda Jones", The Norwegian tune"WWJJD?" (what mean?) and the exquisitely dramatic segue from the English Beat to Dengue Fever. But my faves are "Gina" and "I Call Your Name" Instant likes.
I wish I'd had this mix on a blue memorex chrome tape when I was a teenager.
Cheap Trick is so good. Robin Zander steals lots (of good stuff) from Paul McCartney. Also enjoyed "School Days" - the Runaways had been a band I've always appreciated in theory rather than spending much time with the music.
So far so fantastic! I have been craving dirty grimy glammy guy/grrrl guitar for some time now and this mix makes me want to rock out with my Bangkok out, especially after listening to track 6 (I realize they are Cambodian but the joke would not work if I said something like In Deep with Siem Reap). For the record, I turned the volume up twice while listening to this mix. Just saying... -Sarah E
Skinny tie pop and power chord bliss - love every minute of it. Pleasantly surprised to hear Chuck E. Weiss' version of "Gina" as I've only heard the Stray Cats take. Soundhounded the mystery track to no avail. Damn! Thanks for all the frosting on the beater, Fritz. Great kick-off for the new season.
What a great mix; a span of, what, 30-odd years, and they almost sound like they could have all been recorded the same day. Brilliant. Loved all of it, Fritz, but for me the gem of the mix was The Nerves. Thanks! P.S. - Feeling Single, Seeing Double is still one of my all-time favorite mixes.
Yay! Finally downloaded and now listening with excitement.
As tradition dictates, lots of favorites, and a few discoveries... It's good to be back, thank you so much!!
As I listened to the first couple of songs on this mix, I thought, "Is it the late 60s/early 70s, or is it 2015? Well, who cares?!?" There really is no need to pin any of these songs to whatever year they were released, however.
A couple of notes from me:
--The first time I ever heard that "Miss Amanda Jones" song was during the first of many viewings of the John Hughes film Some Kind of Wonderful. Nice to hear it again.
--Tracks 8 and 12 are new to me, and I love them.
--Any mix that includes the English Beat is a mix I can get behind.
The best music makes me happy to be alive, and a great music mix lifts my spirits the way nothing else can. This was a real power poppy spirit lifter! Favorite tracks for me were the Any Trouble song and The Nerves. Super psyched that The Prodge is back on!
Loads of tasty cuts on this one! There were great songs I'd never heard by artists I know (English Beat, The Boys, The Runaways), great songs I already know and love (THe Nerves, The Who, The Downbeat 5), and stuff that came out of left field to twist my brain - mainly, how does a guy named Chuck E Weiss sound that tough? Thanks for the upbeat welcome back into the Prodge, bro!
For me, Chuck Weiss' "Gina" is the sugarplum in this mix, which makes you, Fritz, the sugarplum fairy. Toothsome yet lean and clean, that track. I love this mix as a kickoff to a new season as it takes the original concept at face-value and includes quite a few artists I really don't know but will pursue now that formal introductions have been made. Favorites other than "Gina"? WWJJD, Dum Dum Ditty, and of course the great opener by Wreckless Eric. Thanks as always Fritz!
Fritz, I’m so happy to be listening to this mix. The opening cut is such a great welcome back to the Prodge. I had to look up Pop Tite. What a great song. Holy Crap! The Forty Fives song is amazing. This is getting better and better. Oh, and then follow it with The Rolling Stones. Nicely done. I remember the first time I heard The English Beat. They still sound so fresh to me. Dengue Fever is really good. God, I love Cheap Trick. Such a great band and what a great pop song. I can’t believe that Any Trouble got past me in the 80s, especially being on Stiff Records. I should have paid more attention to their roster. I think School Days is my favorite Runaways song. Man, that Launderettes song is fantastic. So catchy. I dig The Nerves too. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that Who song. It’s really good. Okay, I have to admit, I have no idea who it is on track 17. I’m embarrassed. Fritz, thank you so much for this mix. I knew that I was gonna dig it.
Fritz-tastic! Fritz-tasty. My bet is that Track 17 is some sort of Eifrig-involved original gem. Loving the Tite Pop tune; I'm burning out my coworkers' tolerance for it quickly. "Daddy Rolling Stone" is my current walk-to-the-plate song. I keep imagining how that band would burn the place down performing it live. Like Melissa, I also flashed on Some Kind of Wonderful when "Amanda Jones" rolled on. "Click Click" is a treat that made an apartment hallway passer-by ask "What was that you were playing last night?" (She's in her 20s). I love the double-time kick of the chorus and the if-we-were-older lyrical warhorse in the bridge of "Teenline", and I want to live forever in the opening lick of "School Days", preferably in some kind of roommate situation with The Launderettes, and have the Downbeat 5 over for poker-and-mapo-tofu night. So very good, thanks bunches.
Better than vitamins, better than redbull - love that energizing power pop sound!
Thanks, all; very gratified to read that the mix has been so much enjoyed!
One correction because my handwriting is so poor: the band responsible for track 2 is The Pop, not Tite Pop.
In addition, the mystery track (also due to my poor and oversized handwriting) is from the original bad girl with a guitar who haunted my adolescence-- the Pretenders, here with a little studio goof called 'Swinging London.'
And finally, I'm most gratified to have been given my new gang name: Sugarplum.
FRITZ! What a great way to kick of the season. Such excellent energy on all these tracks, it powered my weekend. Fave "new to me" tracks were The Pop (I discovered the typo by googling Tite Pop and you get all this weird tupperware! haha, The Shivvers (loved this!!) and The Nerves. Also I wanted to see the height differential on Dengue Fever and as another Google tip, be sure to add "band" ....otherwise you get all these gross bug photos. haha. YAHOOOOOO Fritz!

"Call Me Lightning"– Nice! It's not everyday that you get to hear a Who song for the first time. Extra-double thanks, Fritz! That's underwater bong-filtered bass bit is a real oddity. Or it a soddity?
The Forty Fives is a band that's news to me. Great drumming. The "Dum Dum Ditty" song has that "Sorry" Easybeats cheesegrater guitar. Nice Beatles cover by The Boys. Love how the song's tempo change sounds with the sped-up RPM. Confession: I completely missed out on The Runaways in their heyday. Never too old to correct past mistakes. Great ender. Had to look up The Launderettes. Norway is the America of the twenty-first century.

Neat stuff...I didn't get the artist names at the track level, just the song titles, so have been looking things up as they are rad enough to research. Don't know most of these tracks -- I have always read about Chuck E Weiss but his song is awesome! Guessing Derek Martin on the Daddy Rolling Stone track...The Stones and The Beat are the only ones are am super familiar with but digging the entire thing...sounds like songs that have been in my life for a long time.
OK...not Derek...The Who! Who in the world has ever heard of those guys before??? Neat crate digger band.
Aha! The Pop!!! I didn't recognize "Tite Pop" at all, but kept wondering why that song sounded so familiar. Boy, I haven't played that album in like 20 years. Thanks Fritz!!
Also, it is not the first time you drop the Shivvers on us (there was another song in a.d.i.d.a.s.) -- but this, Teenline, is an all-time personal favorite. I know nothing about them though, I only have the latter in a compilation. Digging' their FB page right now. Thanks again!
Thanks, Fritz. I particularly liked the Power Pop time travel aspect of the mix, & the live-sounding syncopated Cambodian horns. I walked into the Whole Foods near my house & heard a familiar rhythm & it was I Confess & I had mixed feelings, which is normal for me, as it's supposed to be for a Libra, ha ha.
Still enjoying the Jamaican music tunes you shared with me years ago. Thanks again.

Even though I've never met Fritz face-to-face (I unfortunately missed the mixer he attended), we've had enough convos through the Facebook and the Gmail that I can tell we are kindred spirits. Love the overall garagey/rockand roll feel of his latest comp. Take note miraclers: Fritz has the track flow down, which for me, is essential in a good comp. Bravo, Fritz!
What a fun toe-tapper! It's always good to hear the English Beat. Thanks Fritz!
Good God, he's done it again!
This mix is such a blast! Reminds me of a.id.a.s! Which I have listened to over and over again, but maybe not more the "A Little Goes A Long Way"! Turns out that mix has gone a long long way!
Thanks for this kick off to summer!
This is a phenomenal mix for so many reasons... I love the Sugarplum genre (how can I join the gang? am I already a member?). There are many new tracks and bands for me on this mix. The songs flow together perfectly. I must echo John G.--these songs all go together so well they could have been recorded at the same time. "Daddy Rolling Stone" is a new favorite for me. The Shivvers prompted me to dig my Kim Wilde LP out of the basement. And the gals kick it so good on this mix--The Launderettes, The Runaways, The Downbeat 5--awesome.
Thanks Fritz. A top notch kick-off mix. I bow down to your mix-mastery (props to your previous Country and Gospel collections). The stripped down flavor here is my cup of tea. You don't need a whole lot more than guitars + drums + vocals ... and maybe a little distortion too. As I listen at work, I've been doing a little desktop drumming (quietly and gently). I just can't help it.
Thank you for bringing "Click Click" to the for front of my summer 2015 tunes!
