By popular demand: 7MPM

My fellow Miraclers. The votes are in, and the people have spoken. Loudly. I give you: The People's Miracle Mix.

Date:
August 4, 2008

Miracler:
Ben Tinker

Location:
San Francisco

Bonus material: Here's a little related gem that puts the zani in synchronizanition. Also, links to some Ben Tinker prodges: a band he plays with, The Society of Rockets, can be seen here and here. He also has his own noise/improv/drone band (who doesn't?), That Hideous Strength, that plays around SF now and then, plus a DJ component (DJ That Hideous Strength) that spins discs on some Fridays at the Argus Lounge in SF. And at his day job, Ben just finished work on the acclaimed new Neil-Young-produced anti-war doc "Deja Vu." Bizzy guy.

I could listen to that Bryan Ferry song for the rest of my life and be happy. Holy guacamole!

A great mix. So great, in fact, that the inclusion of a Jefferson Airplane song doesn't ruin it. Thank you, Mr. Tinker, for making my day a better one.

A funny/sad video of The Cake:

I really liked that "The Cake" song. Until I watched the video link here. Now I am sitting, rocking, back and forth in a fetal ball. In a dark corner in my basement. That girl in the green dress is coming for me. I can feel it. Please....help...

PS: If, however, I turn out to survive the incident, I WILL be looking for a synchronization partner (either gender will do) to learn the steps of the healthy "The Cake" members for our next 3MPMP dance party. I'll even make the ruffle collars for us.

Any takers?

Update: We're safe.

Jeanette Jacobs - 1950-1980.

Thanks for the recon, Doug Patterson! Dance synchronization plan is ON.

OK, so I am really creeped out. REALLY creeped out. I'd say that chick in the green dress is a robot 'cause she doesn't really move at all, but she does trip on her way out of the big pink cake thingy at the beginning.
Oh, and I don't think she blinks either.

Aw, poor Jeanette, don't we all feel like that sometimes? Hmmm, looks like she ALWAYS felt a bit low key: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6YcB9W28vY
meanwhile, that Eleanor was a real spitfire;

looks as if she still is;

I particularly like the The Cake, Nina Simone, Fairport Convention, & Bryan Ferry. And, indeed, the The Cake video puts the zani in sychronizanition. As Henny Youngman might have said, it takes the cake -- please!

Nice to hear Liz Frazer on your mix....always love her & LOVE Felt.

I love that bizarro Tuxedo Moon track followed by Felt ... it's all kinda weird and cool and unlike everything else I listen to. Awesome mix!
