About this week's Miracler
Equal parts joy, wonder, self-deprecation, and naked existentialism, Daniel's day jobs have included teaching lit and philosophy at Berkeley, writing, branding, and cofounding this cultural website for smart people, art+culture. More about him here. This short essay he wrote about Smarty Arty Pop could be the 3MPMP manifesto. In fact, let's say it is. 3MPMP Manifesto: check!

About our Miracler, in his own words
"Daniel is a lout who, after all this years, still finds himself in San Francisco yet yearning for some mythical off-the-grid. Yearn is an excellent verb."

About this mix, in our Miracler's words
"Please note that the title — "The Hero Team" — bares only coincidental signification with the music contained within. This collection was dubbed by a 5 year old and, well, I thought it a dandy name. Note, as well, that Mark Knopfler —however peculiar this is to say or hear — is f***ing sexy."

Mix is here. Enjoy, XOK

Reggaejunkiejew! (What can you do?) Ahhh. Poetry in lotion. Powered by some ridiculously bass-y ass bass.

Mix o' Wonder every which way but loose. Thanks, man!

'Pumpkin' kicks. Don't it?

I've already dumped at least half of this mix into my personal "3MPMP faves" playlist, including Great Five Lakes, Pumpkin, The Owls Go, Far Out, and yes, that sexy Dire Straits song. And that Here Are The Facts You Requested song has long been a favorite, so it's good to see it here. Mommyheads trivia: I designed a t-shirt for them in the early 90's. Miracler Vanessa Belli's husband Doug still wears it!

Fun mix, Daniel!

So glad to see the love for Ween!

And, Kelly, how come you know all my secret loves, even the Mommyheads, no less?

Because I've been quietly stalking you. For 20 years.

I particularly like the Apostle of Hustle & Starlight Mints songs -- & didn't know them before. Then there are songs that I hadn't heard in (various) ages but that I used to listen to alot: Dire Straits, Ween, Mommyheads. Thanks, Daniel.

I like my Ween as brown as the next guy, but "Reggaejunkiejew"? Thanks for Buffalo Daughter - check out Cornelius' remix of "Great Five Lakes" if you haven't already heard it. Silver Sun, The Unicorns, The Starlight Mints, Archer Prewitt - really good stuff. And poor Grandaddy - I miss them. Thanks, Daniel.

I have to admit: I find Reggaejunkiejew hilarious and beautiful. It has never ceased to make me smile, in the best way, over these many years.

And I'm with you on Grandaddy: they made/make me very happy. Such a shame, methinks.
